Something for A Bride to Be

Wedding bells will soon ring for Mr. and Mrs. Lowe.
Kaitlin and Wesley will be married on May 4, 2018 (May the 4th be with you for any Star Wars fans out there).   I decided to blog about one of the gifts I will give to the bride.  RED is the color and it fits the for the blog.

I started with a raw wooden heart from the Target Value shelves (3.00).   I found the darling Be Still My Heart graphic as a free download at I Should be Mopping the Floor Blog    I printed it on a transparent whole page label.

The raw wood made it easy to paint in a translucent manner to allow the wood grain to show through on the backside.   A wet paper towel with acrylic paint worked like magic.

I used Art Alchemy Soft Satin Metallique acrylic for the front side.
I then placed the graphic sticky side down on the dried paint.   I typed the letters on my computer and printed them on more label paper.   As I smoothed it all into place, I realized the paint was still a tad damp and rubbed a bit of the images off.  PERFECT!  One of the happy accidents that make for unplanned better results.
This effect made it look a bit worn and matched the wood to make it a bit rustic.
I'm pretty happy with the results of a RED message of LOVE for the happy couple!

Here are a few fun gift ideas I saw and some I finally chose as gifts...

I had to get a 3 foot furry heart pillow
And of course the Mrs. Always Right PJ's
Also included were unmentionables and a Star Wars blanket for the new hubby to snuggle with his new wife!

PLEASE LEAVE A HAPPY WISH FOR THE NEW WEDDED COUPLE ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE AND WE WILL MAKE SURE THEY SEE IT.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
