Modern Love

Hello Everyone, HAPPY MONDAY!

Today I have a Valentine for you! A lovely modern style card for someone special. Red is such a romantic and powerful color, I hope you enjoy!

For this project I used:
Altered Pages collage sheet 3196 in two sizes
Altered Pages red brick image or use the brick Stencil
Adhesive
Fabric scraps
Red satin shimmer paper 8 1/2 x 11 (folded for card)
Misc. love quotes on vellum
Gloss medium
Clear crackle medium
First, I fussy cut the heart images I wanted from my printouts ( I used original print then sized it down to a half page for smaller hearts). Then I cut the brick image, removing some of the "bricks" to give it a more interesting appearance. I certainly could have used the image as it printed but I like to add more interest since the hearts are fairly even shaped.
Now I take the lovely red paper that has a "glimmer of shimmer" to it, and fold it in quarters. Your card will measure 5 1/2 on right/left sides and 4 1/4 top and bottom.
Next I glued down my brick image.
Using a scrap of red fabric, I folded edges in and glue down. You could certainly use a paper strip or ribbon/lace for this, I just have too many fabric scraps and will use them when I can.
I take the fussy cut hearts, use a crackle medium on the large one and a gloss medium on the smaller one to give 2 more textures to the card. I also cut out my quotes. Once the hearts are dry, I glue the large one first, the quote second and then the smaller heart on top using care not to cover any of my text.
I glue the remaining quote on the inside of the card and that's it! Easy peasy!
This is a great card to give to your special valentine, you can load up the folded part of the paper with confetti if you know they don't mind that LOL

I hope you enjoyed this modern Valentine card and I hope you have a lovely day

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
